Normally, the power of a diesel generator set will be reflected on the nameplate, but it must be noted that the power value represents the primary power or standby power.

In the selection of diesel generator set, we should choose the appropriate power generator set according to the size of the load we need, which can not only make the rational use of the unit but also greatly reduce the cost.

What is the primary power and standby power of a diesel generator set?

The primary power is the power that can run for a long time, that is, the power that the unit can run continuously for 24 hours.

Standby power can only be operated for short periods of time, that is, the unit can be overloaded by 10% on a continuous power basis for one hour out of every 12 hours.

For example, a 500KW diesel generator set can run continuously for 24 hours, that is, 500KW is the main power, its standby power is 550KW, that is, 550KW can run continuously for 1 hour within 12 hours.   If you buy the spare 500KW unit, if you do not overload usually open in 500KW, in fact, the unit has been opened in the overload state (because the actual rated power of the unit is only 450KW), this is very adverse to the unit, will shorten the life of the unit and cause an increase in the failure rate.
